Provide the purchasing function support to various business units within the company by placing purchase orders and following up with vendors regarding the order status.
Be responsible for general administration in terms of buying/procurement of company requirements.
Ensure that goods required are procured at the right time, right quality and quantity and delivered to the right place.
Deliver strategic procurement goals of the the group.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Person:

Diploma or Degree in Logistics/ Procurement / Supply Chain B-Tech and CIPS qualification an advantage
Min 5 + years working experience in a production environment
Recognised Senior Buyer
Manufacturing or Engineering environment exp
Commodity buying
Bulk raw materials buying
Engineering spares buying
Repairable items buying
Strong negotiation skills in pricing, payment terms, lead times etc
Continuously strive to save costs

The Job:
Report to the Sourcing Manager

Manage buying/purchasing activities across functional teams and across different categories
Process requests for purchasing in line with the demand and procurement plan
Source new suppliers if no suitable supplier is available on the database
Follow standard procedures in processing new and existing suppliers
Monitor, track and follow up on goods already purchased using the system and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
Apply standard procedures when purchasing goods, check contract details and manage contract documentation in partnership with internal Legal department
Purchase raw materials, packaging, equipment, machinery, professional services, spares, tooling etc in line with purchasing request.
Manage supplier evaluations by getting business to rate suppliers, analyse the data and report to business, procurement department and Procurement Committee
Address non-performance of suppliers and communicate with supplier for proposed solutions
Manage activities involved in inbound and outbound logistics including imported goods, customs and transport
Request quotations and arrange pick up dates for replenishing, repairs etc. of any item in the company
Check and verify final documentation upon receiving goods such as delivery notes, certificate of analysis etc. Send to Logistics and keep a copy.
Monitor supplier payments and follow up on outstanding invoices
Take responsibility for contracts administration to ensure compliance and supplier performance management
Action agreed quality initiatives ensuring that they are aligned to tasks/ processes/ systems & SAM Procurement Policy
Implement corrective actions identified within specified time
Adhere to and meet all relevant safety targets and measurements within the area of responsibility
Actively address all customer and supplier concerns
Management of key supplier relationships to ensure obtain the best value for money for the SAM and meeting long term strategic drives
BBBEE strategy execution/ compliance and reporting on portfolio spend
Procurement Committee Reporting (Preparation of Submissions for approval to procure)
Internal stakeholder management (Turnaround times on queries/ Relationship management)
Critical requirements tracking and management
Sourcing and Procurement (RFP/ RFQ/ RFI/RFT/ROI)
Ensure adherence to Governance (Policy/ SOP's/ Work Instructions)
Track, manage and report on savings
Project Procurement Plan execution (Execute /Track/ Manage/ Report)
Sole and Preferred Supplier (Identification/ Present for approval/ manage market testing dates)
Capex Procurement and Reporting to Capex committee & Procurement Committee
Identify Items for Group Contracting
Weekly & Monthly reporting on KPI's and role specific deliverables
