SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team and take responsibility for the buying, stock management, supplier relationships and merchandising of a high volume retail operation.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day buying and procurement of merchandise.
Ensure the correct product range and sufficient stock are available to meet customer demand.
Monitor sales, stock levels, margins, rate of sale and buying budgets.
Manage purchase orders, deliveries, returns, claims and supplier contributions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Negotiate promotions, pricing and supplier activities to drive sales.
Monitor competitor pricing and market trends and identify opportunities for growth.
Coordinate promotional activities and ensure effective merchandising and execution on the sales floor.
Analyse sales and stock reports and take corrective action where required.
Assist with achieving sales, gross profit, stockholding and shrinkage targets.
Work closely with management and operational teams to improve store performance.
Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and local market trends.
Assist with stock takes, loss control and general store operations when required.

Minimum Requirements:

3+ years' experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer role within retail or wholesale industry.
Strong knowledge of FMCG buying, stock management, margins and supplier negotiations.
Commercially minded with a strong understanding of sales and customer demand.
Strong analytical, organisational and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and relationship building abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume retail environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with retail buying/ERP systems will be advantageous.
