Buyer — 5-Month Fixed-Term Contract
POSITION INFO:
Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its team on a five-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will procure goods, services, spares and consumables to support mining, crushing, workshop and ready-mix operations, ensuring reliable supply and cost-effective purchasing.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Procure goods and services in accordance with company procurement procedures.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms and service levels.
- Create and process purchase orders on the ERP system.
- Source and develop reliable suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery compliance.
- Purchase mining, crushing, workshop and ready-mix plant spares and consumables.
- Track and expedite outstanding orders.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Support cost-saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the uninterrupted supply of operationally critical materials and services.
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Grade 12.
- National Diploma in Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
- At least three years’ experience in procurement or buying.
- Strong ERP system experience, such as SAP, Sage, Accpac or similar.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to meet the role’s medical fitness requirements. A pre-employment medical assessment is required.
