Business Un/it Manager Senior Medical Technologist

SUMMARY:
Manage all technical tasks in order to ensure efficient specimen flow in the laboratory.

POSITION INFO:

The purpose of the role:

Is to be responsible for conducting standard medical lab tests and interpreting the results.Lab Technicians will also do work which involves the preperation and collection of patient samples such as blood, urine and etc.

The duties:

• Manage all technical tasks in order to ensure efficient specimen flow in the laboratory.
• Manage the departmental budget in order to control expenses and ensure the correct allocation of funds.
  Manage all Quality Control procedures in the laboratory in order to ensure best practices are upheld.
  Maintain good client relations in order to promote the image of the company
  Verifying the calibration status of equipment and performing maintenance of this equipment as required
• Assisting with validation and system monitoring of equipment, including completion of appropriate logs following inspections
• Participating in continuous improvement activities which seek to reduce cost, increase productivity and improve quality
• Supervises all laboratory support and administrative functions to ensure the smooth operation of various sites in line with relevant standard operation procedures.
• Monitors and controls expenses in order to control costs and maximize the profitability of the sites.
• Oversees the extraction of pre and post analytical laboratory management reports and analyses trends in order to implement or recommend corrective actions to the Chief Executive Officer.
• Attends and participates in laboratory manager meetings in order to monitor pre and post analytical laboratory processes in the organisation.
• Participates and contributes as a member of project teams that are responsible to implement pre- and post- analytical laboratory processes and LEAN systems at new or upgraded laboratories to ensure that correct working procedures are implemented and staff are trained accordingly.
• Supervises the correct application of quality assurance processes and standard operating procedures to ensure corrective actions are taken as required.
• Reviews and implements changes to standard operating procedures in order to ensure the pre and post laboratory function ( e.g. laboratory courier services, specimen reception and sorting, test result reporting functions) is constantly able to provide a high quality, cost effective and safe service.
• Prepares and ensures availability of up to date documents for internal and external audits to ensure accreditation is maintained and/or obtained in accordance with organisational objectives and business requirements.
