Business Manager

POSITION INFO:

Introduction

Execute the sales department portfolio strategy by maintaining and growing existing business with emphasis on strong key account management, whilst identifying new customers and securing new business, within the Mining sector across Africa (including South Africa).

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification preferable (Business / Sales and Marketing or Chemical related)

Experience

• Minimum of five or more years sales experience (Mining industry experience is preferable)
• Mining Chemical product knowledge (is not essential, but chemical or metallurgical background will be an advantage)

Required Competencies

• Strong business / commercial acumen
• Knowledge of basic SHEQ standards
• Excellent selling and negotiation skills
• High energy levels
• Action orientated / task driven
• Ability to sell products on a value basis (specialty product marketing) understanding of Mining sector in Africa (inclusive of South Africa)
• Customer service orientated
• Good understanding of finance
• Good knowledge and understanding of contracts and tender processes
• Code 8 drivers licence
• Valid passport

Duties and Responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities

• Marketing and selling of chemicals consumed in the mining industry (Broader Africa and South Africa) sales /business plan implementation
• Key Accounts Management and gaining new business across Africa
• Extensive business travel across Africa customer relationship management
• Fiscal management of sales territory (volume, sales and gross Ppofit management)
• Managing internal and external interfaces market intelligence
• Launching new products

• Successful business plan and sales strategy for allocated portfolio
• Successful sales volume, turnover and profit targets for allocated portfolio customer satisfaction and retention for allocated portfolio
• Sustainable relationships with new and existing customer base
• Successful negotiation and management of business and contracts
• Excellent market knowledge and customer application knowledge
• Debtor management in conjunction with Debtor department
• Successfully execute the strategy for geographical expansion, new products within the existing customers and gain new customers
