Business Development Manager - Midrand

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent is required to conduct research and perform market analyses on a regular basis, providing feedback on new business opportunities found. Responsible for ensuring that sales targets are met, new customers are identified, and existing Distributors are retained through regular international travel and business development in the SADC region.

Primary Functions for this position (include but are not limited to):

Business Development & Research:

• Work with the Global GM to develop and execute on international business strategy and objectives in line with the overall department strategy by ensuring attendance at exhibitions/trade shows

• Compile and conduct market analysis and research on new business opportunities for SADC region, providing feedback, reports and market intelligence following travel

• Identify the appropriate route to market (company, distributor, key account customer, JVA/country host, MOU, lead originator)

• Responsible for ensuring appropriate business growth and meeting of sales targets in SADC region through regular international travel and business development

• Maintain and grow relationships with existing Distributors and customers whilst identifying new customers and partnerships

• Need to be regularly marketing to the database of clients, existing and potential

• Conduct SWOT analyses and feasibility studies on the market, to seek new opportunities in preparation for engagement with potential clients and projects.

• Monitor the activity of competitors in the region Sales Administration:

• Prepare and process quotations

• Secure and deal with the administration of sales orders for the SADC region

• Research, identify and comply with relevant rules, policies, and procedures for the  SADC countries

• Ensure that all documents align with INCO requirements

• Accountable for the logistics of products and resources required to execute on Projects

Team & Client Engagement:

• Work together with the Global Solutions team to ensure that technical expertise and resource requirements are allocated to successfully execute projects

• Maintain and grow relationships with existing Distributors / customers, ensuring partnership development, while also identifying new Distributors / customers and potential partners (cold calling).

• Cold-calling and marketing to client databases (existing and potential) maintaining an organisational presence with current customers and potential customers.

• Mentor, lead and engage with team members, ensuring that sales targets are met for the department

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Min:

• Matric certificate

• Certificate/qualification in sales/marketing

• Driver’s license

• Valid passport for travel

Preferred:

• Diploma/degree in sales/marketing OR

• Diploma/degree in international business

Knowledge/Skills & Experience

Min:

• 5 years in a global sales department

• 5 years in managing Distributors internationally

• 2 years in an HOD position

Preferred:

• 5-8 years in a sales HOD position

• Previous experience dealing with sales and Distributors in the SADC region

• 5-10 years international sales experience
