SUMMARY:
Our client, an Independent Short Term Insurance Brokerage, located in Port Elizabeth is currently looking to employ the following role:

Short-term underwriter or broker

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Responsible for the overall underwriting processes.
  • Timeous attendance to internal and external queries.
  • Timeous follow-through of quotes.
  • Timeous processing of renewals and sending relevant documentation to clients.
  • General reporting and servicing of clients.
  • Providing full administrative backup to the broker.
  • Quality control.
  • Identification of corrective action on renewals, endorsements, etc.
  • Policy endorsement and processing thereof on relevant system.
  • Attending to policy queries with insurers and clients.
  • General administrative duties.
  • Ensuring strict SLA's are adhered to in terms of turnaround time.
  • Providing quotes on existing policies.
  • Maintaining daily diary.
  • Loading new policies.
  • Providing qualitative service levels to internal and external clients.
The qualifications and experience we are looking for:
  • Matric/Grade 12 is a minimum requirement.
  • RE5 (advantageous).
  • Minimum NQF 4 qualification (advantageous).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of statutory and legislative requirements, e.g., short-term Insurance Act/FAIS/Fit and Proper etc (advantageous).
  • 3 years or more experience as an Underwriter / Broker.
  • 3 years or more in the short-term insurance industry.
  • Must have both domestic and commercial experience.
