SUMMARY:
Location: Cape Town – Western Cape  
Reporting to: Lead Brewer
One of the leading brewers in South Africa is looking for an exciting, dynamic, and ambitious individual to join the team at a leading Cape Town based brewery. This position is for night duty only.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

What Will You Do?
The Brewing Operator is responsible for producing wort, monitoring raw materials, and operating the centrifuge.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for wort production, yeast management, and centrifuge operation, including set up and CIP responsibilities
  • Manage cellar and milling staff
  • Perform basic biochemical and chemical laboratory work
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the brewhouse
  • Maintain highly detailed records and analyses
  • Maintain stock levels of brewhouse raw materials
  • Deliver results and analyses in a timeous manner
  • Look at ways to innovate or improve
  • Must be willing to assist with tasks outside of the normal scope of brewing
  • Must be willing to accept shift work hours, dictated by production schedules
  • Schedules and other monthly KPI’s will be established to maximise the effectiveness of this support.
  • Must be comfortable with operations in these areas as they will be required from time to time to oversee activities with this area
  • Must be able to independently perform routine analysis as required for the work areas and product specification adherence
                       
Requirements of the Role:
  • Scientific/engineering/food science qualifications advantageous
  • Former brewing experience and/or brewing qualifications advantageous
  • A passion for beer and brewing
  • Valid driver’s license/own transport                                       
Required Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Proficient on Microsoft excel, Word and PowerPoint along with detailed record keeping
  • Able to work well with others
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Willing to work afterhours and on intermittent weekends
  • Willing to assist in areas other than brewing within the production unit
