About the Role

Out client, in the polymer development and production industry, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to handle full-scope accounting duties (up-to Trial Balance) and payroll for the company. The ideal candidate holds a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting and brings at least five years of accounting experience. The company makes use of Sage accounting products and applicants should be familiar with the platform.

POSITION INFO:
What you’ll be doing

Supplier processing, allocations of payments and reconciliations.
Credit control and collections.
Customer processing, allocations of payments and reconciliations.
Loading of payments for release.
All Cashbooks and reconciliations.
Cashflow monitoring and projections.
Sars related filing – VAT, PAYE, Tax Clearance, IRP5’s etc.
Reconciling payroll to accounting software.
Maintain fixed asset register.
Depreciation of Assets.
Processing of credit applications of customers.
Monthly management accounts and trial balance analysis for management.
Creation of quotes/sales orders.
Timesheet calculations & payroll for BCEA and MIBFA employees.
MIBFA returns and queries.
Regular backups and archiving.
Procurement/Supply Chain Management participation
General ledger maintenance and journal entries
Filing and document management
Maintaining financial records
Assisting with general office administration
Supporting management with financial information

What you’ll need

Completed relevant, tertiary qualification
Proven experience as a bookkeeper (minimum 5 years)
Strong working knowledge of Pastel Accounting (Sage/Payroll Pastel)
Experience processing up to Trial Balance
Solid understanding of accounting principles
Experience in payroll processing (MIBFA bargaining council employees is a bonus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
Strong reconciliation skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
