The Role: Bookkeeper

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join the team in a full-time, office-based role in Cape Town. This position plays a critical part in managing day-to-day bookkeeping duties, supporting VAT and payroll preparation, and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and reconcile supplier bills and credit notes
• Process and reconcile customer invoices and payments
• Reconcile bank transactions across multiple accounts
• Manage reconciliation of PayPal, Stripe, credit cards, and other platforms
• Upload receipts/invoices and maintain an orderly chart of accounts
• Track and record staff expenses and petty cash
• Assist in preparing VAT returns and highlight missing/inconsistent data
• Monitor aged debtors and creditors and support payment runs
• Respond to accounts-related queries from monitored inboxes
• Collect and record staff working hours, holidays, and leave
• Maintain updated employee details and submit timesheet data for payroll
• Input staff expense claims and reconcile payroll payments in Xero
• Organise digital records and support year-end financial filing

About You

• Minimum 5 years of full-spectrum bookkeeping experience
• At least 3 years of hands-on use of Xero accounting software
• Experience working with UK-based clients for a minimum of 3 years
• Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent qualification
• AAT Level 3 qualification (minimum)
• Certified Xero Advisor
• Highly organised and detail-focused
• Proactive communicator and team player
• Comfortable working UK hours (8 am - 5 pm SAST)
