Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
Our client within the Mechanical Engineering industry is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their team in Germiston.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

1. Manage day-to-day accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
2. Utilize Pastel Sage accounting software to record financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
3. Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records.
4. Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
5. Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
6. Generate financial reports and assist in budget preparation.
7. Work closely with the finance team to support month-end and year-end closing processes.
8. Maintain confidentiality of financial information and adhere to internal controls.
9. Assist in resolving accounting discrepancies and issues as they arise.
10. Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, with proficiency in Pastel Sage accounting software.
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
5. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
9. Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and compliance standards.
10. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
