Bookeeper

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper with a proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts and assisting with day-to-day operations.  They need to bring in a strong grasp of financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance. Passionate about keeping numbers in perfect balance while supporting business growth through reliable financial data and insights.

Job & Company Description:

• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using accounting software
• Process and reconcile daily sales reports, supplier invoices, and bank statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with compliance to SARS requirements.
• Perform monthly journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Assist with payroll preparation and related reconciliations (e.g., PAYE, UIF).
• Support the Finance Manager with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain organized filing systems for financial documentation and audit readiness.
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and suppliers.
• Monitor cash flow and petty cash transactions for various business units.

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar finance/accounting role.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Strong Excel skills and understanding of bookkeeping principles.
• Knowledge of South African tax regulations and payroll systems.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team.
• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (Diploma or Certificate).

• 1–2 years' experience in a finance or office admin role
• Proficient in MS Office
• Good communication and planning skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
