Position:Boilermaker
Department Mining Maintenance – Underground Crushing & Conveying
Grade C2
The incumbent will work as part of a team, which is responsible for maintenance on the Conveying
system underground.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Carrying out repairs and maintenance on all mechanical equipment including but not limited to
Skip chutes, Conveyor chutes, Apron Feeders, Vibrating Pan Feeders, pumps, winches, crushers,
conveyors, fans, ventilation doors, water tight doors, fire systems and distribution lines for air and
water.
• Involvement in small projects to improve equipment.
• Assisting supervisor in compliance with planned maintenance system.
• Ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards.
• Carrying out Legal checks.
Intrinsic Qualities:
• Good working knowledge of the core process.
• Must have a good understanding of the Palabora Integrated SHEQ system.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
• Must be able to identify potential hazards related to job and take action to perform all work within
the framework of safe work practices provided.
• Must be willing to work shifts when required.
• Must be adaptable to change.
• Must be willing to work underground.
• Must be willing to do stand-by duties.
• Must have good strong leadership qualities.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Qualified Boilermaker.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Preferably the holder of a valid first aid certificate.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in boiler making.
• Two years’ experience in Crushing & Conveying maintenance.
