SUMMARY:
Our client, a young dynamic company in the food manufacturing industry has an opportunity for an experienced Blockman.
POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep counters clean, neat, and presentable.
- Ensure counters are packed to desired levels, eye catching and appetizing for customers.
- Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat.
- Understand different cuts and meat eg. Hindquarters, forequarters, and Lamb etc.
- Cut meats into primal and to specification.
- Mark products, workpieces, and equipment with identifying information.
- Listen carefully to the customer requirements to avoid cancellations.
- Ensure left-over meat is vacuumed.
- Define and trimming of different cuts.
- Store meat at the correct place, watch stock levels and replenish when required.
- Adhere to FIFO (First IN First OUT) principle to reduce losses for the business.
- Follow company health and safety procedures and standards.
- Conduct weekly stock take.
- Ad hoc tasks as assigned by the manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A valid Matric Certificate (negotiable depending on experience)
- Customer Focused
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Sober habits
- Working with dangerous equipment and sharp objects.
- Accurate and attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Able to work in a team.
- Physically fit
