Billet Loader

SUMMARY:
Our client based in Olifantsfontein, within the Aluminum industry, requires a Billet Loader with a minimum 1-year experience to prepare billets for extrusion at the right time, quality, (alloy, size, quality, cleanliness) and temperature. A valid Matric is essential.

POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities

• Length tolerance and diameter.
• Cleanliness of the billets.
• Surface defects such as bad saw cut, rough surface, cracks, heavily scourged and dents.
• Billet identification.
• Squareness and straightness of the billet
• Ensure that the correct number of billets, size and alloy are loaded in the heater as indicated by the relevant Lot Ticket. In consultation with the Foreman, extra billets can be pressed to avoid shortages; however, extruding extra billets will generate unnecessary scrap.
• Ensure that all jobs with the same alloy are pressed sequentially to avoid time lost on scavenging & take-offs.
• Use starter billets on all the heat sinks, spreaders and other complex dies with fins and screw slots, this will help to reduce the pressure on the die (Starter Billet=Shorter Billet).
• Always keep the billets loaded in the straight line so the billets tilt can receive the billets accordingly.
