Position Type: Battery Bay attendant (Predominantly Forklift)
working a Dayshift/Nightshift rotation (rotating – on a 4 shift pattern. Two days, two nights and four off.)
Position Summary:
Responsible for keeping Material Handling Equipment clean and operational with charged batteries, performing preventative maintenance and reporting of minor repairs on battery cables and connectors.
Requires the use of machinery to change out batteries, check and add water to batteries and track changes. Troubleshooting and investigates equipment/battery malfunctions. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform preventative checks on material handling equipment batteries
- Report minor cable and connector damage
- Maintains batteries in charged and working condition, keep work area clean
- Must be able to perform job functions at times without Supervision
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ensure forklifts are cleaned thoroughly during charging time – inside and outside
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Grade 12 High school education or equivalent
- Forklift license
- Read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and instructions
- Equipment maintenance experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions
- Ability to operate special equipment, machinery and or tools including forklift, electric cart, man lift, basic and power tools.
- Time management skills, meet deadlines and productivity expectations
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse population
Desired Previous Job Experience
- 2 years attendance experience
- Knowledge of equipment and process – identify risks and safety issues
Education Level: High School Diploma
Required Certifications/Licenses: Forklift license
