Description:
The Barista is responsible for accurately preparing/serving coffee products to guests and service staff in a friendly, fast and efficient manner. In addition, the Barista will: serve prepared foods such as bagels, biscotti or muffins and will weigh, grind and pack coffee beans.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques,
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, and accompaniments,
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Maintains and complies to a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations,
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.
- Customer relations, welcomes customers by determining their food / beverage interests and needs.
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee / beverage / wine menu; answering questions
Requirements:
- 2 – 3 Years Barista experience in an upmarket environment
- Barista & Latte Course advantageous
- Barista knowledge to have:
- Coffee regions / origins
- Roast profiles
- Perfecting espressos
- Tea & coffee temperature margins
- Coffee art
- Ability to be constantly evolving and creating new ideas
- Pairing of coffees with alcoholic beverages
- Immaculate appearance
- Be able to prepare coffees table side
- Have a professional but pleasant personality while interacting with guests table side
- Working knowledge on point of sales systems
