BUYER / PROCUREMENT OFFICER FOR THE BUILIDNG INDUSTRY
POSITION INFO:
Well estbalished Company specialising in Ceiling and Partitioning Sytems for the Building Industry has a vacancy for a BUYER / PROCUREMENT OFFICER for their Factory in the Durban North area.
The purpose of this position is to manage the Company’s supply of products and services working with and supporting all relevant departments. Responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers, managing the import and supply chain process, including quality and effectiveness of products and all price negotiations and landed cost estimates.
Responsibilities
Sourcing, Procurement and Contracts
- Sourcing and negotiation
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers and customers
- Order processing as required or purchase order approvals
- Finalise purchase details of orders and deliveries
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Ability to work with a team and be self-motivated
- Work with finance, sales and operations and logistics to build and maintain good relationships with vendors
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and clients
- Attending meetings and events related to procurement
Planning, Reporting and Controls
- Working on forecasts and inventories, keeping an accurate record of the process and analysing performance
- Planning and implementing logistical strategy, ensuring targets are met
- Keeping accurate records of all procurement files
- Producing reports and statistics
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Tracking of goods from origin to delivery
- Improving the overall supply chain performance and look for any possible innovations to the process
- Implementing new technologies and staying alert to new trends in the sector.
Auditing and Best Practices
- Checking costs, quality and levels of service
- Perform risk management for the supply chain process
- Examine and test existing contracts
- Preparation and participation in Audits including QMS, ISO 9001 and BBB-EE
- Actively promote and champion the use of the best practice to ensure compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
Requirements
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market.
- Talent in negotiations and networking
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
- Experience in collecting and analysing data
- A high level of computer literacy including Advanced Excel
