BUYER (PIPES AND FITTINGS) – EAST RAND (3510)

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / equivalent                                                

Experience and requirements:

• 5 or more years recent experience purchasing of steel pipes, fittings, flanges and other fluid control products
• Sound SYSPRO knowledge is essential
• Intermediate to Advanced EXCEL knowledge “V-Lookup”
• Sound arithmetic skills
• Mature and assertive
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Good communicator
• Sound product knowledge – Steel Pipes, Fittings, Pumps, Valves & Flanges, and other related fluid control products
• Currently or recently employed at a Fluid Control company as a Buyer
• Hands-on Import experience
• Good planning skills
• Reside on the East Rand
• Have a stable work record and contactable references

Job Description:

• Understand and implement the group purchasing strategy in respect of all Fluid Control Products
• Produce Product Order Templates based within prescribed timeframes for all Fluid Control STOCK items – both Local & Imported
• Issue, Receive and consolidate Order Templates within pre-defined time periods
• Provide estimated landed costs of shipment and ETA’s of orders to be placed
• Issue Order enquiries to Suppliers and compare pricing
• Obtain approval to place orders and confirm orders with suppliers
• Confirm order placement with Stock Controllers for SYSPRO to be updated
• Monitor progress of orders and report back to Stock Controllers on a regular basis
• Liaise with Suppliers, Shipping and Clearing Agents to expedite orders in the shortest possible time
• In the event of delays, liaise with management to source products locally on a group basis to satisfy anticipated shortfalls
• Monitor daily group purchase reports and identify and implement better buying opportunities
• Maintain Product Masters on SYSPRO for Fluid Control products.
• Manage and maintain price lists for Fluid Control products
