BRANCH MANAGER – STEEL PIPES / FITTINGS & VALVES

SUMMARY:
Our Client a leader in the retail and wholesale of steel pipes, fittings and valves industry requires a candidate with more than 10 years recent management experience within a trading branch.

POSITION INFO:

The ideal candidate will be required to manage the sales team and the projects side of the business. Assign and direct all work performed in the branch and supervise all areas of the operation, manage staff, foster a positive environment, and ensure customer satisfaction and proper branch operation.  Have a hands-on approach and be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets to be achieved.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / equivalent
• Retail Management or a related qualification will be an advantage.

Experience and Requirements:

• 10 or more years recent experience as a Branch Manager in a retail and wholesale enviroment, preferably industrial or related.
• Must have a Financial and Sales trading background
• Computer literate (advanced skills) - MS Office Suite and Syspro
• Strong management and trading skills
• A valid South African driver’s license
• A stable work record and have contactable references
• Please note you will be required to work Retail Hours Monday to Thursday 07h30 to 17h00 and Fridays until 16h30 as well as alternative Saturdays and Public Holidays from 08h00 to 13h00

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the day to day running of the business
• Direct all operational aspects including distribution operations, customer service, human resources, administration, and sales
• Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities
• Develop forecasts, financial objectives, and business plans
• Meet goals and metrics
• Manage budgets and allocate funds appropriately
• Bring out the best of the branch’s personnel by providing training, coaching, development, and motivation
• Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities
• Share knowledge with other branches and headquarters on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs
• Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly
• Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws
• Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company
• Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement and penetration
