Job Description

A successful incumbent will be responsible for:

• Creative plating
• Ensuring the highest health and hygiene standards are set and adhered to in the kitchen and canteen
• Checking that staff are adhering to cleaning roster and that kitchen is being cleaned properly
• Correct usage of chemicals and cleaning materials
• All food orders (storerooms, fridges, deep freezers)
• Maintenance – report any issues with equipment
• Training all staff members in health and hygiene
• Training on salads, desserts and any new recipes if necessary
• Always make a plan to accommodate unusual dietary requirements/children and religion
• Maintaining good working relationships with suppliers
• Updating stock sheets and prices
• Having knowledge of products, suppliers, prices and current stock

Qualifications

• Formal Chef Qualification

Skills

• At least 5 years’ experience working in a big kitchen with a big team
• Pastry knowledge is essential
• Good knowledge of food preparation, knife skills and food service
• Computer literate
