BI Analyst Developer

POSITION INFO:

Key Purpose

The Business Intelligence (BI) analyst developer will be focusing on efforts to ingest Vitality data necessary for Data Science initiatives into our big data environment. The right individual will possess experience in the analysis of data sources using SQL and extract, transform and load (ETL) development. Engaging with systems architects, data scientists, data engineers and BI teams will be critical to accomplish your day-to-day initiatives successfully.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

• Interact with business stakeholders on the required datasets needed to be ingested.
• Conduct data analysis and profiling on these datasets.
• This analysis should determine what attributes exist as personal and special personal information
• Produce the required governance documentation in the form of source-to-target mappings of each table that is required.
• Design and develop ETL processes to ingest data into our big data cluster.
• Setup delta processes to keep these datasets up to date
• Interact with systems architects to discuss solutions, challenges, and enhancements.
• Work with the big data architecture team to ensure loads are running optimally.
• Investigate and problem solve integration issues with the cluster.
• Work with Data Science teams to setup data model automation processes.

Technical Skillset

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Kafka.
• Experience with Cloudera will be advantageous.
• ETL Development experience with SQL Server Integration Services.
• Strong SQL query writing skills (across database environments)
• Python coding is essential, while Java and Scala will be beneficial.
• Working knowledge of Data API’s
• Experience in ETL design and good understanding of ETL solution architectures.
• Good understanding of ODS, data warehouse, data mart, cube, and database technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Must be able to navigate ambiguity and complexity around business products and benefits and how they tie into data.

Soft Skills

• Strong interpersonal communication skills; being able to interact at both a technical and non-technical level.
• Must be able to plan the execution of larger technical delivery items.
• Effective document writing skills.
• Must be adaptable to changes in project priority and change in team focus.
• Time management
