Job Description

Our client is looking for a Junior Attorney to join their team in Johannesburg.

Key performance indicators will include –

Corporate Governance Focus:

• Company Secretarial Support to Clients
• Supporting the Firm Principal in Company Governor Support
• Support the Clients on various Software Platforms (Governance Instrument, Appraisal Instrument, POPIA Tool, nCyRisk, and possible others) – working with the Firm Principal in this regard.
• Data capturing
• Editing and formatting of Reports into perfect form
• Supporting the development of standardised Templates – content, policies, procedures.
• Longer-term: ISO3700 implementers and certification of Governance Compliance.

Legal Support Focus:

• Commercial Agreements
• Other Legal work our firm deals with
• Supporting the on-going development of a Legal Audit Software Tool
• Supporting the future development of the ISO3700 Governance Manual into a Software Tool

Important qualities or traits the ideal candidate should have:

• Understanding of the Companies Act and the King Code
• Attention to detail is a must
• Able to follow instructions and direction of the Firm Principal
• Professional communication
• Time Management and meeting deadlines
• Need to be available after hours and on weekends, when necessary, on a voluntary basis, especially in the current economic climate.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney – with up to 2 years’ experience

Skills

• Strong computer literacy - especially Word and Outlook.
• Must be interested in and wanting to work in Corporate and Company (Commercial) Law.
• Helpful if this person is interested in and/or additionally qualified in Compliance.
• GhostPractice of other Legal Practice Management Software experience is a bonus.
• Must be able to type well.
