Job Description

 

Para-Legal will be required to assist the Head of Legal with all legal and regulatory/compliance related functions and general legal administrative tasks within the Group.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Drafting of letters of demand, notices and other legal documents for the  Group
  • Management of clients and professional communication with clients
  • Assist with preparation of finance and collateral documents (as well as supporting resolutions) in accordance with credit approvals and applicable legislative requirements;
  • Regular internal process checks
  • Prepare instructions and manage, registration/cancellations of bonds as requested. Control document/condition precedent check lists and registers to be maintained and updated throughout process
  • Ensure fulfilment of conditions precedent, correct interpretation of credit conditions and security requirements;
  • Ensure that all credit sanctioning collateral and conditions have been fulfilled prior to disbursement
  • Assist the Group with legal related queries, research and investigations
Qualifications
  • NQF Level 6 or higher legal qualification (paralegal diploma or Bachelors Degree)
  • Banking or credit qualification an advantage
Skills
  • 3+ Years as in-house counsel/para-legal role
  • Experience with conveyancing and notarial administrative work (preferable)
  • Experience in banking and/or finance industries (preferable)
  • Good general knowledge of law of the Republic of South Africa
  • Good knowledge of legislation such as (POPIA, FICA, NCA and Companies Act)
  • Exceptional time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Computer literacy and excellent working knowledge of programmes in the MS Office Business Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
