POSITION INFO:

Introduction
An Automotive manufacturing company based in Western Cape is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their team.

Purpose of the Role
The FSE is primarily responsible for all Technical Hotline escalations that arise from SSA and southern Africa region.  The role also contains a training element as we engage with the technicians.  When not travelling, the role will require the execution of Fix it right First time audits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Thoroughly and efficiently execute all assignments issued via the Technical Field operations Assignment management System (TFOAMS).
• Provide detailed feedback and properly close out all assignments via TFOAMS.
• Log all tasks carried out on TFOAMS where such tasks were not formally issued via TFOAMS.
• Must be able to diagnose and effect repair to vehicles at dealerships that are battling to repair a vehicle.
• Assignments will be allocated that fall under the following categories in order of priority.
• Engage with dealers on technical hotline (TAC) escalated cases to expedite resolution and ensuring procedural disciplines are applied whilst establishing root cause of situation and providing detailed and accurate feedback via TFOAMS.
• Conduct Fix it right First Time Audits
• Audit and drive adherence to dealer In-Bay processes.
• The FSE is primarily expected to work closely with dealer and TAC. However, the FSE also forms part of the greater dealer support structure and thus will be expected to collaborate with the Dealer Operations Manager (DOM), Aftersales Business Manager (ABM) and District Sales Manager (DSM) as appropriate. However, TFOAMS remains the official means of allocating FSE tasks and for the FSE to providing relevant feedback on observations.

Minimum experience & qualifications required

• Must possess a tertiary technical qualification – (National Diploma/ Degree or BTech in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering) - Minimum 3 year diploma from a recognized university/college.
• Vehicle diagnostics and technical problem solving experience a must.
• Dealership operations and workshop experience an advantage.
• Must have a valid South African Driver’s license
• Must have a valid Passport
• Must be willing to relocate to Western Cape

Behavioural skills required

• Strong verbal communication and writing skills in English. Afrikaans. Portuguese, French an advantage.
• Fully competent with vehicle diagnostics and technical repair of vehicles.
• Process orientated with a disciplined, enquiring and empathetic approach to problem solving.
• Outgoing approach to engage with people with a view to resolving and teaching.
• Good time management and prioritisation skills
• Self-motivated, responsible and dependable with sound ethical values and a good grasp of business relationships.
• Proficiency in the use of Windows, MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
• Prepared to travel locally and internationally at short notice and for multiple days at a time.
