SUMMARY:
Automation Test Lead - need to be local-ish to Edinburgh to be onsite every 4-6 weeks but otherwise remote working
POSITION INFO:
Software house in Edinburgh (remote working) requires a Test Lead with hands-on automation testing experience.
This company are right at the start of an incredibly interesting project - merging two of their solutions into one and as a result are asking this opportunity to delve into automation testing, so need a hands-on technical lead (maybe you!) to guide the way.
You''ll be someone who has lots of experience designing/implementing automation test frameworks and developing an automation test function pretty much from scratch (and so you''ll have huge influence on the direction the automation testing takes long term).
Because the project is still in its infancy, the tech stack hasn''t been fully determined, meaning the company aren''t fussed about the particular tools or technology you might have experience with, but more about your abilities, mindset and adaptability.
Although this role is a Test Lead position, the leadership skills are just slightly further down the list of priorities for the company, so automation testing skills and experience implementing an automation testing function are much more essential. What this means, is that although you do need to have experience leading/mentoring/coaching a small team, it doesn''t need to be in a formal Test Lead role!
You''ll have most of the following skills/experience:
**Experience setting up an automation test function from scratch before, based on business requirements
**Hands-on technical automation testing experience - designing, creating and implementing an automation testing strategy, framework and plans
** Researching tools and technologies to move forward with
** Ideally some experience with TDD and BDD environments
** Experience across both mobile (iOS and Android) and Windows applications
** Ability to create cross-platform automation testing
** Cloud based environment
** Work with senior stakeholder to hold technical conversations, and make critical decisions
** Agile environment
** Mentoring/leading/coaching more Junior Testers, particularly in regards to automation testing
Medium to long term, the plan is for the testing team to upskill in terms of automation testing (which would be your responsibility) but they would also be looking to grow and add some more experienced automation testing specialists too.
Beyond that, there are other long-term opportunities outside of the testing function (if that''s something you are interested in). Employees in the company tend to stay for a good while and that''s because they have been able to sidestep into other areas of interest e.g., Testers becoming Developers, Developers becoming Project Managers, Project Managers becoming Architects etc.
The company''s office is in Edinburgh but this will be a home-based/remote working role. There is a need to be fairly local to the company to travel to the Edinburgh site to pick up equipment which is shared round the team at intervals. This would be on an ad-hoc basis, but they anticipate it being every 4 - 6 weeks.
The salary on offer is up to £50,000 and the company offer benefits such as 23 days holiday, paid time off for charity work, ability to buy additional holidays, pension, life assurance and other optional benefits.
