Automation Technician

SUMMARY:
Our client in the automotive sector based in Kariega/Uitenhage seeks to employ an Automation Technician to join their Maintenance team.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

• Correcting various Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic faults on machines in order to ensure production continuity
• Assessing breakdowns and develop alternative solutions to prevent occurrences
• Ensuring machine availability, accuracy and performance for continuous production within area of responsibility
• Planning and developing modifications for conventional relay equipment to PLC equipment on various machines in order to reduce maintenance costs
• Supporting production with new facility installations and commissioning to ensure proper functionality
• Resolve robotic electronic communication faults by adjusting the robotic program to prevent reoccurring robot communication faults and ensure uninterrupted production process
• Analyzing programmable logic controller programs for the purpose of modifying and find faults on the machines and equipment
• Execute improvement projects
• Perform on the job training with maintenance personnel
• Compile and write work instructions for equipment
• Be able to upgrade existing systems and equipment to latest technology levels to improve productivity

Requirements:

• National N6 / National Diploma in Mechatronics / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering qualification
• Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience in the Automotive maintenance environment
• Ability to analyze and correct any deviation of machine performance from the manufactures specification
• Have 3 – 5 years industry related experience (preferably at an automation integrater)
• Have extensive experience in a PLC controlled systems environment including Profibus, Profinet, Profisafe and Interbus diagnostics, Industrial Ethernet diagnostic and SCADA programming and diagnostics
