Auto Electrician

SUMMARY:
A Mining equipment manufacturing company is looking for an Auto Electrician to work in a manufacturing-oriented industry where you contribute to the effective and efficient installation, maintaining and repair of electrical wiring of AARD equipment.

POSITION INFO:

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools and work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring and fixtures
• Place conduit, pipes or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
• At all times be medically fit to perform all Electrician/ELWL duties

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

• Monitoring and immediate reporting on spares stock shortages.
• Immediately report any abuse / negligence by the operators on any of the equipment.
• Comply with all SHEQ requirements, considering, the safety of others

Required Work Experience

• 3-5 Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
• Experience in repairing and maintaining of electronic equipment – Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic principles:
  • Install electronic power on equipment or systems
  • Install or replace meters, regulators, or related measuring or control devices
  • Install/connect electrical equipment to power circuit
  • Maintain electrician’s tools or equipment
  • Replace electronic components
  • Splice electric cable
  • Splice electric or communications trunk lines
  • Repair or replace electrical wiring, circuits, fixtures, or equipment
  • Install electrical conduit or tubing
  • Repair electronic components, equipment or systems
  • Install lead-in wires to control boxes and other components
  • Test electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, systems or fixtures
  • Analyse operation of malfunctioning electrical or electronic equipment
  • Test electronic or electrical circuit connections
  • Install electrical fixtures or components
  • Construct or fabricate electrical parts or fixtures
  • Experience in underground mining industry equipment operations will be advantageous

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• South African Trade tested as an Electrician/Auto Electrician
• Syspro advantageous.
