CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

● To assist with the operationalisation of the Health Professions Education/Health Science Education Centre  within the Faculty of Health Sciences  ●  To promote excellence in Health Professions Education through robust scholarship within the field of Higher Education studies  ●  To offer programs that develop Health Science Education knowledge and practice in instructional design, learning and teaching and assessment aligned to the Faculty''s educational philosophy, vision, mission and strategic objectives  ●  To facilitate implementation of innovative and responsive Health Sciences curricula, based on an integrative and transformative professional education and research philosophy  ●  To work closely, on behalf of the Faculty, with all key Health Science Education stakeholders

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  1. Coordinate all educational development processes to ensure successful delivery on timelines and budgets
  2. Identify and manage risk and communicate problems as they arise
  3. Oversee and administer all facets of the day-to-day operations of the educational development process and activities related to the positions
  4. Serve a strategic role within cross-functional teams that drive the educational reform process of the Faculty

CORE COMPETENCIES

 
  1. Possession of strong transformation and strategic leadership skills
  2. Ability to communicate strategic ideas and challenges effectively to a range of stakeholders
  3. Ability to translate the Faculty''s vision into effective local programs working in cross-functional teams, including different health professional teams within an Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice methodology
  4. Have the knowledge to advance project management processes, methodologies, tools and techniques and the ability to adapt them, with particular reference to Public Service and Higher Education projects
  5. Ability to apply a sound understanding of the social and higher education landscape to work within health sciences education
  6. Ability to keep abreast of the latest innovative and technological changes relevant to health professions education
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Education

Relevant PhD in a related Health Sciences or Education field

Formal post-graduate qualification in Health Sciences Education/Health Professions Education

Registered with a Professional Council as a Health Professional will be an advantage

Experience and skills

Minimum of 3/5 years'' experience as a Health Sciences Educator/Manager at a Higher education institution

Experience in Health Professionals education and training

Experience in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice methodology

and in teaching in a Community-oriented curriculum

Higher education

Proven track record of establishing, implementing and managing related educational reform projects

Experience in program development and accreditation

Experience in Instructional Design and technology-facilitated learning

Experience in all aspects of project management in Higher Education institutions

Experience with costing and managing budgets

Proven research track record
