KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
- Facilitate effective teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level, specifically in criminal and procedural law modules, including both law and law enforcement modules.
- Assume responsibility for course materials, lectures, tutorials and assessment of law modules, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Contribute to programme management and curriculum development.
- Successful research supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students (both LLM and LLD) in criminal and procedural law.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the research and engagement strategies for the
Department of Criminal & Procedural Law.
- Be able to perform independent research and produce peer-reviewed research outputs (both national and international).
- Perform administrative duties and contribute to the achievement of the Faculty of Law’s strategic plan.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of the Faculty of Law’s strategic plan.

CORE COMPETENCIES |

- Expert knowledge in the theory and application of criminal and procedural law, as well as law enforcement.
- At least 5-7 years’ experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Experience in the design of curricula and course material.
- Significant contribution to the creation of knowledge through research and publications.
- Substantial experience in research supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Demonstrated involvement in relevant engagement activities or other scholarly outputs.
- Strong communication, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving, planning and organising skills, as well as conceptual thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with internal and external stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS
|
|
- An LLD or PHD, preferably in criminal and procedural law.
- A minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in a teaching, learning and research environment.
- Participation in local and international conferences through the presentation of research papers.
- Proven record of published peer-reviewed outputs (at least 10).
- Have a good understanding of academic policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in Faculty and/or University leadership and/or management.
- Possess required experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- A strong record of both undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
- The potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by involvement in relevant engagement activities and the publication of textbooks, etc.
