- Facilitate learning and teaching in Tourism on undergraduate programmes - Academic administration

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To facilitate and administer the learning and teaching process for students at undergraduate levels, conduct and publish research within the discipline of Tourism, supervise Advanced Diploma students research projects, coordinate academic programmes as well as undertake general administrative work and partake in meaningful engagements, in line with the core functions and values of the university.

  • Facilitate learning and teaching in Tourism on undergraduate programmes
  • Academic administration
  • Programme Co-ordination
  • Supervision of tourism projects e.g. Advanced Diploma students
  • Participating in research
  • Engagement

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

  • Sound knowledge in the theory and application of Tourism
  • Ability to facilitate the learning and teaching of Tourism modules at undergraduate level
  • Ability to co-ordinate academic programmes and undertake administrative tasks
  • Ability to supervise research projects

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

In order to be considered for an appointment to an Associate Lecturer post, the potential candidate must have a relevant, discipline-specific Honours’ degree in Tourism and at least one (1) years’ experience in facilitating learning and teaching in Tourism at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level at a tertiary institution. Experience in the supervision of the research projects of students at Advanced Diploma and/or having published an article, will be a strong recommendation. The candidate needs to have intentions to register for a Master’s degree and thereafter, a Doctoral degree. A developing track record in research and publications will be a strong advantage. Industry engagement will also be a strong advantage.
