CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsible for teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and to support the department/faculty in pursuit of its academic objectives. Responsibilities may also include curriculum development, work integrated learning, student academic development, administration, quality assurance and health and safety in order to contribute to the academic initiatives undertaken by the department/faculty.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Facilitation of teaching and learning within the discipline of Public Administration and Management;
• Supervision of post-graduate research
• Perform academic administration, in relation to the expectations of the qualifications in Public Administration and

Management.

• Develop relevant course and module content in collaboration with staff in the discipline of Public Administration and

Management.

• Participate in engagement within the University and wider community.

• Participate in Work Integrated Learning initiatives within the department.
• Contribute to Quality Assurance through committee meetings and submission of relevant documents.
• Develop relevant reports as and when required.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Sound knowledge in the theory, and application of public administration and management
  • Experience in facilitating learning at the undergraduate and post-graduate level and supervision of post-

graduate research.

• Demonstrated ability to contribute to the creation of knowledge, by virtue of publications and successful supervision of post-graduate research
• Show potential in conducting research in public administration and management.
• Ability to organize annual memorial lectures; organize and manage short learning programmes and other community engagement activities.
• Project management skills.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for appointment to this post candidates should have:

-         An Honours degree in Public Administration/Public Management with relevant experience for Associate Lecturer.

-         A Masters degree will be an added advantage.

Experience includes:

• Two or more years relevant lecturing experience in the same discipline
• Facilitating learning at higher education both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Demonstrable potential to conduct research, and
• Scholarly publication in accredited journals.
