CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of the post is to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in modules as presented by the Nelson Mandela University Nursing Science Department at undergraduate level, to participate in research, to contribute to the academic and community engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the university.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Possess a sound knowledge of the theory and application in relevant disciplines in nursing science
2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning activities and practices in undergraduate academic and clinical programs
3. Supervision of Honours'' level research candidates
4. Create knowledge through research and publications

CORE COMPETENCIES

1. Application of diverse teaching and learning methodologies for under and postgraduate programs
2. Knowledge and ability to teach practical and theoretical component of General Nursing Science
3. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning at undergraduate levels
4. Knowledge of research theory and applications in Nursing Science
5. Ability to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of research and/or co-supervision of research candidates at Honours level, involvement in relevant engagement/ consulting activities or other scholarly outputs
6. Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of short learning programs or other Continuous Development Programs
7. Ability to assist in curriculum development

REQUIREMENTS

Education

M+4 degree (Honours) in General Nursing Science

(Paediatric Nursing will be an added advantage)

Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse

Qualified and registered with SANC as a Nurse Educator or Evidence of application to SANC to be registered as a Nurse Educator

Registered as an Assessor and Moderator with SANC or Evidence of application to SANC to be registered as an Assessor/Moderator

Experience and skills

Minimum of one year''s teaching experience in General Nursing Science

Minimum of two year''s work experience in the clinical field of General Nursing

Paediatric Nursing will be an added advantage

Research

Evidence of research involvement is required

Knowledge

Knowledge and experience of healthcare systems
