Assistant Portfolio Manager – Multi Management

SUMMARY:

A leader in its industry is currently seeking for an experienced Assistant Portfolio Manger to join their team.
The main function of this role is to research, select and recommend appropriate asset managers and portfolio structures in order to meet the investment objectives of the Fund.

POSITION INFO:

The successful applicant duties include but is not limited to:
Implement and monitor effectiveness of asset manager / portfolio mandate structure and strategy for a specific portfolio

• Assis IMM in Researching global asset management developments in asset classes and alternatives within portfolio to identify and recommend potential new investment solutions which are accepted by the Investment Manager.
• Keep abreast of investment index/benchmark developments relevant to portfolio.
• Develop investment manager portfolio mandates / guidelines that incorporate Fund objectives and are in alignment with portfolio mandate structures.
• Monitor that the asset manager/ portfolio mandate structure and strategy is supported by the governance framework.

• Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of investment decisions within portfolio, Optimising investment returns.
• Develop and maintain relationships with investment and banking communities, enabling access to market research, trends and statistics.
• Utilise MSCI BARA1 and Statpro to monitor portfolios and generate performance and risk reports.
• Perform performance / risk-return analysis and provide recommendations to Investment Multi-Manager and CIO as and when required.
• Assess and monitor investment portfolio risks and performance attributions.
• Generate reports analysing investment performance.
• Assess performance against stated benchmarks.
• Distribute DD questionnaires and agendas to asset managers and receive feedback.
• Update the annual DD Questionnaire to keep it relevant.
• Structure the DD agenda in line with investment theme and collate input from Compliance and Admin to incorporate into agenda.
• Write feedback reports to the SIC on onsite DD visits and communicate recommendations.
• Take ownership of the manager Incubation programme

• Research, identify and recommend suitable asset managers in support of the Multi Manager strategy.
• Assist on the effective management of transition strategies.
• Achieve maximised return within acceptable levels of risk.
• Identify of “Best of Breed” Fund Managers within portfolio.

• Ensure appropriate investment mandates are in place for portfolio to optimise investment strategies.
• Provide input into in-house investment activities which are in alignment of multi-manager strategy, corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
• Assist the Multi-Manager to prepare reports and commentary for submission to the S.I.C. and Board of Trustees

• Participate in project meetings regarding investment systems to enable effective implementation of investment related projects.
• Providing input into multi-management business process changes, assisting in effective completion of multi-management business process changes.
• Conduct Incubation Programme Liaison, as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree (major in economics, business, or finance preferred)
• Honours Degree (major in economics, business, or finance preferred)
• CIPM, CFA will be advantageous

• In-depth knowledge of legislation governing investments within portfolio
• Knowledge of Tax legislation
• In-depth knowledge of financial practices and procedures
• In-depth knowledge of Industry developments relevant portfolio
• Knowledge of CFA Code of Conduct.
