Assistant Farm Manager Greenhouse

SUMMARY:
A fast-growing strawberry farming business is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to manage the day-to-day activities on the farm, driving ongoing continuous improvement and focusing on detail around quality, volumes and yields.

POSITION INFO:


Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar commercial horticultural environment
• A formal qualification in Agricultural Science will be advantageous
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Excellent leadership, communication and planning skills will be required
• Must be proficient in MS Office

• Managing the day-to-day activities relating to the production of crops, including growing programme development, crop production, planting, fertilizing, irrigation and harvesting.
• Ensuring all farming equipment is maintained properly.
• Performing general maintenance and housekeeping of area of responsibility.
• Instructing and adjusting worker activities like planting, irrigation, chemical application and harvesting.
• Supervising the workforce, including timekeeping, discipline and training.
• Implementing and managing fertilizer and pest control programmes.
• Scheduling irrigation programmes.
• Driving ongoing continuous improvement focusing on detail around quality, volumes and yields.
