SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
My client in the fruit farming Sector is looking for an Assistant Farm Manager to help the Farm Manager in the management of all the sections on a farm, and to work closely with the heads of the various sections of the business, deputize for the Farm Manager when dealing with suppliers and customers as well from time to time, plan and implement budgets and production targets, monitor the quality of produce and performance of the farm, resolve customer issues to their overall satisfaction, ensure product quality and availability, keep up to date and accurate records, work closely with the Logistics Director, help with product marketing and selling to a variety of customers, negotiate with suppliers, organize employee schedule, undertake practical work as necessary depending on the volume of the work, complete tasks assigned by the Farm Manager or Director of Farm Operations accurately and efficiently, communicate directly with the Farm Director, the status of work/needed responsibilities on the farm, measure and report daily/monthly work progress of the farm, work together with the farm manager to achieve the weekly goals of the farm and act as an intermediary between the Farm Director and other workers on the farm, bringing concerns in a very supportive and positive manner.
Minimum qualification requirements and skills:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.
- Driver’s License
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with farming of tree crops
- Experience within a position as Assistant Farm Manager
- Experience with pest control operations
- Thorough mechanical knowledge and understanding of modern agricultural practices and horticultural techniques
- Compliance to all required Standards (Global GAP, Siza, etc.) and specifications that distinguish exportable fruit.
- Knowledge of irrigation construction, installation and management will also be an advantage.
