CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
Assist the Catering Manager with driving profitability and productivity of the catering outlet by assisting with staff management, quality food output at affordable prices and maintaining customer satisfaction and hygiene standards in accordance with applicable legislation relating to food health and safety.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Ensure the efficient and quality, purchase, production and sale of all meals, snacks and functions
• Identify and manage Food Health and safety – ensuring legal & HACCP compliance
• Manage human resources
• Monitor and manage all financial resources (stock control, revenue, expenses, cash handling)
• Continually strive to improve and deliver a professional positive customer experience

• Good interpersonal skills with sound communication abilities.
• Extremely trustworthy and reliable
• Good front of house & customer service skills
• Competent in food costings, menu compilation and good catering skills
• Good working knowledge of Food Health & Safety reporting and compliance
• Strong financial management & reporting skills
• Strong staff management skills
• Computer literate (POS & General Computer skills)
• Ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility to work shifts, after hours and during vacation periods
REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should:
• Possess Matric
• Food Services management qualification or tertiary qualification would be an added advantage
• Have Food H & S knowledge
• 2 - 3 years’ experience in hospitality industry plus 2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
• Willing to work shifts and during the university vacation period, after hours and public holidays and to be
present at all events.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Fully computer literate
• Light vehicle drivers license will be considered an advantage.
