Experienced Assistant Accountant needed

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a leading successful direct sales company producing some of South Africa''s most valued cookware. They are looking to expand their team and are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply for either a hybrid or remote working opportunity after the in-office induction period. Currently, the offices are based in Lansdowne but from the end of 2022, they will be based in Century City.

The purpose of the position is to record, verify, reconcile, consolidate and capture transactions. To provide
financial information to management by analysing data, preparing reports, monitoring budgets and cost
control.
The role includes assisting the accounting team with:
● Processing of transactions, the performance of monthly reconciliations, and internal reporting
● Development and maintenance of internal control systems
● Preparation of annual financial statements
● Preparation and submission of statutory returns and payments
● Preparation of annual budgets
● Maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
● Analysis of business operations, trends, costs, and revenues and attending to financial enquiries
● Continued professional development
● Payments processing and banking

Requirements:

● BCom accounts degree or equivalent
● 2+ years experience in a similar role
● Previous auditing experience will be an advantage

● Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost management, income tax and VAT
● Excellent accounting knowledge of GAAP, knowledge of IFRS an advantage
● Excellent analytical skills
● Good knowledge of accounting software applications, knowledge of SYSPRO an advantage
● Good interpersonal skills
● Able to build and maintain relationships
● Shows good personal financial management
● Good oral and written communication skills
● Demonstrates good personal leadership (takes responsibility for personal & career development
● Problem-solving abilities
● Fluent in English
● Reliable, honest, accurate, hardworking, disciplined, deadline-oriented.
● Occasional overtime may be required.
● Honesty and integrity
