To approve accounts payable invoices, credit notes and foreign exchange transactions in the Universi

POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To approve accounts payable invoices, credit notes and foreign exchange transactions in the University Financial System and to ensure payments to suppliers are made timeously.

To ensure that creditor reconciliations are up to date.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Approve accounts payable invoices, credit notes and foreign exchange payments
Generate Payments to University suppliers
Oversee creditor reconciliations
Check supplier invoices to ensure VAT compliance
Perform year-end accruals
Supervise staff to ensure effective workflow
Attend to audit queries

CORE COMPETENCIES

B Com Degree (Accounting up to second year level) or National Diploma in Accountancy or Cost Accounting.
3 Years’ experience in an Accounts Payable Department of a large organization.
A sound knowledge of VAT in a tertiary education environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to adhere to deadlines
Ability to manage staff

REQUIREMENTS

Numerical accuracy
Ability to work without constant supervision in a decentralized work environment
