SUMMARY:
Our client specialising in Logistics has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career in accounting and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Objectives:

Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Full accounting function up to trial balance
  • Compile management accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting practice (IFRS preferred but not a requirement)
  • Analyse financial information to detect variances, weaknesses and risks
  • Prepare month-end files with supporting documentation
  • Prepare billing information and invoices on a monthly basis
  • Adjust journal entries and accounts for provisions
  • Reconcile customer balances receivable
  • Process and reconcile bank statements and cash sheets
  • Process and reconcile petty cash (if required)
  • Maintain proper, fixed asset registers with supporting documents
  • Debtors and creditors control
  • Calculate Income Tax, VAT and Employee’s Tax liabilities
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations
  • Cash flow management
  • Load transfers, beneficiaries and payments onto the banking system
  • Resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities
 
SARS Requirements
  • Submit monthly statutory returns e.g. EMP201, VAT201
  • Submit bi-annual recons (EMP501) and IRP5’s
  • Process SARS payments and maintain SARS accounts
  • Attend to SARS audits and submit supporting documents
  • Applications for tax clearance certificates
 
Administrative
  • Submit and pay CIPC annual duties
  • Manage and train subordinates to meet Finance expectations
  • Maintain financial and administrative software and templates
  
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Accounting and Auditing with the following requirements:
    • Financial Accounting Level 3
    • Auditing Level 3
    • Taxation Level 3
  • SAICA / SAIPA Articles beneficial (but not essential)
  • Post-article experiences are beneficial (but not essential)
 
Job-Related Work Experience:
  • More than 2 years of experience in credit management skills,
  • More than 2 years of accounting experience, in particular in Debtors Control,
  • More than 2 years of staff management experience.
 
Job Knowledge:
  • SAGE X3
  • MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  • SARS E-Filing
  • EasyFile
