Assistant Accountant

POSITION INFO:

Education Requirements:

National diploma in accounting

Or

BCom degree

Experience Requirements:

5 - 8 years accounting experience

Manufacturing background will be an advantage

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of pastel partner is essential

Knowledge of imports would be an advantage

Computer literate with sound knowledge of excel

Ability to work accurately under pressure

Good communication skills, verbal and written

Great attention to detail

Self-motivated with good initiative

Problem solver

Ability to meet deadlines

Structured and organized

Solid administrator

Be able to multi-task

Able to work in a high pressure environment

Key Performance Areas:

Processing of various cash books and bank reconciliations

Reconciliation of general ledger accounts

Reconciling of inter-company loan accounts

Initiating journal entries

Maintenance of trial balance

Updating and maintaining fixed assets register

Assisting with creditors queries and creditors reconciliations

Assisting with the finalization of month end stock

Assisting with SARS queries

Assisting auditors with year-end procedure

Assisting with imports function

Obtaining an understanding of accounting systems and related internal controls

Identifying and investigating internal control weaknesses and non-compliances

Other related tasks and functions as determined from time to time
