Assistant Accountant

SUMMARY:
Experienced Assistant Accountant required to start ASAP.

POSITION INFO:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Grade 12 / Matric
• VIP payroll – premier version
• Tertiary qualification in finance
• Strong experience & background in payroll, tax & legislation and financial administration
• Advanced MS Excel & MS word is essential
• Strong communication skills - Must be able to communicate in English and Afrikaans
• Must be able to prioritize - Meeting monthly deadlines
• Strong administration skills

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Payroll:

• Administration & calculation of employee benefits
• Preparation of monthly electronic payslips on VIP Payroll system
• Payroll month-end & year-end administration
• Timeous & accurate capturing & processing of employee data with regard to employee engagements and terminations
• Management of any ad-hoc changes to employees’ benefits and general salary information
• Liaise with the H.O.D.’s regarding any staff issues & reports required
• Assisting the H.O.D.’s on an ad-hoc basis regarding any payroll-related queries and requirements
• Liaise with H.O.D.’s regarding new employee contracts
• Confirmation of employment & salary as required
• Proficiency in tax-related matters in order to respond to any tax queries from staff
• Management of any ad-hoc medical aid & pension fund changes
• Align provident fund billing with monthly report
• Process all 3rd party payments
• Submission and payment of SARS EMP 201
• All IOD queries & submissions
• Skills development & Equity reports & submission to our representative
• Assisting with IOD reports & payments (Once a year)
• Staff leave reports for each department
• Personnel filing

Debtors, Creditors & Accounts Assistant:

• Debtors reconciliation
• Sending out monthly invoices & statements to members
• Preparation of monthly debtors age analysis
• Placing orders for stationery & month end stock take
• Processing debtors payments
• Issuing of Pro-forma invoices
• Invoicing / journals / etc on in-house system
• Monthly debtors reporting
• Completing daily / monthly revenue reports in excel spreadsheets
• Monthly reports / recharges for each department
• Pre-paid & commission reconciliations
• Changing rates on system for season & as required
• Cashbook recon & credit card recon
• Assisting the Accountant & Committee with daily / monthly needs
• Capturing of creditor invoices / credit notes on system
• Capturing of stock invoices / credit notes on system
• Reconciling creditors statements & following up on queries / outstanding invoices
• Preparing weekly / monthly payments for processing
• Capturing weekly / monthly payment batches in online banking system
