CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to improve student, staff, and other stakeholder support through consultation by assisting staff and students to solve problems, manage change, improve efficiency, and ensure the effective and efficient execution of assessment functions for the assigned faculty/ies, the Assessment and Graduation Section and in the broader Academic Administration where required.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
â–ª Humanising consultative engagement with students, staff and external stakeholders to assist, advise and ensure compliance
with relevant Assessment and related institutional policies and procedures.
â–ª Perform efficient and effective assessment processes as required.
â–ª Engagement with and training of internal and orientation of external stakeholders.
â–ª Any other tasks that might be reasonably expected.
CORE COMPETENCIES
â–ª Extensive knowledge and understanding of University and assessment rules, policies, procedures, and
systems. Ability to consistently implement all of the above.
â–ª Extensive verbal and written communication skills to ensure and achieve the required standard of
communication to communicate the impact of selected scenarios to the affected stakeholders while
maintaining confidentiality.
â–ª Strong computer skills as well as a good knowledge of the ITS and other relevant systems.
â–ª Strong ability to manage and perform functions concurrently, although different in nature, while working to
tight deadlines under stressful circumstances on a continuous basis including planning, organizing and
quality assurance.
â–ª Strong ability to work independently within a diverse team to build relationships in order to gain cooperation
from staff, students, and other stakeholders.
â–ª Strong ability to take initiative in problem solving through analysis to independently identify, evaluate,
propose scenarios, and decide on solutions to resolve complex assessment matters relating to students,
staff, and other stakeholders.
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal qualities:
â–ª Institutional awareness of processes and factors that impact the workload.
â–ª Management skills that shape the operations of the workload including for example, manage personal
operational plans.
â–ª Decision-making skills when managing workload, assess different options and choose the best course of
action, on a daily basis.
â–ª Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues through recognizing shortcomings and scenarios and to
effectively carry out solutions.
â–ª Time management skills to perform multiple tasks of equal priority at the same time, under your own direction,
to ensure that work is completed on time.
â–ª Strong discipline specific IT skills to ensure effective automated business processes.
â–ª Technical communication skills to communicate clearly and persuasively, effectively discuss issues and
deliberate with others, explain their policies and decisions to those within and outside the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification 

 

At least 2-3 years'' relevant experience at a Higher Education Institution in an academic administration or
assessment and graduation environment (preference will be given to candidates with assessment and
graduation experience).
