POSITION INFO:

Description of Position
The asphalt foreman are supervisors who oversee the progress of sites works with regards to paving. This includes planning the work for the day, assigning tasks to their sub-ordinates, ensuring the required plant is available at the site and ensuring safe work procedures are followed.

Qualification, Experience and Technical Requirements

• Grade 12 Matric Certificate
• Proficient in English (reading and writing), Xhosa would be an advantage 10 Years Industry related experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an asphalt team, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity
• Proven experience in supervising teams – must have the capacity to instruct and guide others on work related tasks
• Drivers Licence

Special Knowledge / Skills

• Advanced knowledge of asphalt specifications (stone & binder and quality, levels and widths)
• Advanced knowledge working with asphalt ad bitumen products, specifically managing a team which includes a paver , roller, trucks (experience working with a shuttle buggy would be highly advantageous)
• Production planning (plant, people, materials and external factors) and costing daily
• Proficient at performing lab tests and interpreting results (verifying voids, density, grading, binding contents, etc.)
• Expert knowledge of asphalt materials and plant (specifications and composition)
• Managing a large team (20+)
