CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of this post is to perform electrical maintenance, preventative maintenance, and services within the Maintenance Services department on the George campus in accordance with legislative requirements and Nelson Mandela University policies and procedures. This position will also be expected to assist with other non-electrical related Maintenance Services jobs.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Perform electrical maintenance and preventative maintenance as well as new electrical installation works.
• Perform other non-electrical related jobs.
• Perform all required administration duties.
• Work independently as well as in a team and perform all stand-by related duties.
• Ensure that all maintenance and new work as well as the workshops comply with the Occupation Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Have excellent knowledge of large buildings and services infrastructure.
• Have excellent knowledge of the electrical regulations in the Occupation Health and Safety Act.
• Have good knowledge of supervising personnel.
• Have good knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of technical data.
• Have good knowledge of electrical plans and specifications.
• Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office and be computer literate.
• Ability to divulge technical data as required.

REQUIREMENTS

• N3 qualification or Technical Grade 12.
• Accredited 3 Phase Electrical Trade Certificate.
• 2 years relevant experience in 3-Phase Electrical Work.
• Unendorsed Category B driver’s license.
