SUMMARY:
Apprenticeship: Panel Beater / Mechanical
To assist qualified panel beaters in repairing damaged vehicle bodies while learning the trade through hands-on experience and structured training. The apprentice will develop skills in metalwork, vehicle restoration, and workshop safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Repair & Workshop Support
- Assist in repairing damaged vehicle panels (dents, scratches, structural damage)
- Help remove and refit vehicle parts (bumpers, doors, fenders, trims)
- Support panel beating tasks such as sanding, grinding, filling, and polishing
- Prepare vehicles for spray painting (masking, cleaning, priming)
- Use basic tools and equipment under supervision
- Learning & Development
- Follow instructions from qualified panel beaters and supervisors
- Attend training sessions and complete apprenticeship modules
- Learn how to use workshop tools, machinery, and repair techniques
- Build knowledge of vehicle structures and materials
- Health & Safety
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Keep work areas clean and hazard-free
- Properly handle tools, chemicals, and equipment
- General Duties
- Assist with moving vehicles within the workshop
- Help with parts handling and storage
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the workshop
POSITION INFO:
Qualifications:
- Grade 10–12 (Matric preferred)
- Interest in automotive repair and mechanical work
- Basic understanding of tools (advantageous but not required)
- Physically fit and able to work in a workshop environment
