Agronomist

SUMMARY:

A well-established manufacturer of plant and animal nutrition is seeking an Agronomist to be responsible for compiling fertiliser programs and presenting recommendations to farmers and agents in the assigned area.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a B.Sc. Agric in Agronomy, Soil Science or related
• A BASOS and/or FERTASA certification is essential
• At least 1 to 2 years’ experience working on different variety of crops will be required
• Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required
• Must have a valid drivers’ license

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing technical support to the commercial team.
• Conducting research on plants and soil in order to develop better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques and to improve crop yield.
• Providing guidance on challenges facing the industry.
• Compiling fertiliser recommendations according to farmers’ requirements.
• Visiting fields to scout for nutritional deficiencies and diseases.
• Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.
• Promoting products and techniques through educational presentations.
• Assisting with the marketing of all product ranges.
• Assisting with the gathering of marketing material and the compiling of product/crop booklets to distribute as marketing material.
• Assisting with product trials and gathering information for registration and sales purposes.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
