SUMMARY:
An established international manufacturer of agricultural chemicals requires the above to provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing team and assist with product knowledge and positioning in the field or at client level.

POSITION INFO:


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a BSc. Degree in Agriculture or Agronomy
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a related role will be required
  • Wide knowledge in agronomy, pests and diseases is essential
  • Must be familiar with data analysing and statistical tools
  • Above-average communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, including farmers, will be required
  • Must have good knowledge of agricultural practices and seeds


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing agronomic and technical support to clients and sales teams on corn, sunflower and soybeans.
  • Supporting the marketing team in terms of field trials and marketing material placement.
  • Networking with farmers and brokers to present available products and to solicit demonstration trial sites.
  • Planning and implementing marketing field and demonstration trials.
  • Planning, attending and presenting at farmer’s days and study group meetings.
  • Performing general problem solving, fault finding and resolving of queries and issues that customers may experience.
  • Developing better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and solving problems for clients.
  • Researching and promoting agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage.
  • Conducting frequent inspections and scouting of all trial plantings to ensure high success rates.
  • Liaising with trialling contractors to ensure trial implementation.
  • Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
  • Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.
  • Conducting training on products and techniques through educational presentations.
  • Developing planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
  • Managing effective trial networks according to strategic needs.
  • Analysing trial data and results to prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Correcting positioning of products in the market according to trial reports.
  • Investigating product complaints and making remedial recommendations.
  • Contributing towards the preparation of product catalogues, leaflets and other marketing related platforms.
  • Organising demo trials, field days and off-season presentations.
  • Collecting farmers’ and distributors’ feedback.
  • Following stewardship and monitoring compliance with Regulatory team and Government Stakeholders.
