SUMMARY:
Currently recruiting for a qualified and experienced Agricultural Economist (Operational Level role) Company based in Cape Town.

POSITION INFO:

AGRUCULTURAL ECONOMIST
Market Related Salary Package
Northern Suburbs, Cape Town

The ideal candidate for this job will focus on interpreting information to provide practical, trend analyses input and strategic input to customers, and in the process efficiently managing large amounts of information that is always sensitive and confidential. The integrity of the information supplied to its customers is based on accurate data which is the sole responsibility of the economists.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Tertiary qualification: BSc Agriculture or B-Comm Agricultural Economy - Essential
  • Proven work experience in the agricultural industry (Fruit, Grape or Grain will be an advantage).
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with various computer programs such as MS Office (formal computer training may be advantageous in progressing in this career) (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work to time constraints
  • Good verbal skills and must be fluent in English as well as Afrikaans
  • Ability to be proactive and function on his/her own
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure
  • Customer centric
  • Willingness to travel (Own vehicle and valid driver’s licence is essential)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data management: Take responsibility for data completeness, accuracy, integrity, validity and context
  • Discussing reports with customers
  • Provide strategic input to customers
  • Interpreting trends that data highlight with customers
  • Understanding the changing needs of customers, developing new products
  • Manage ad-hoc projects from time to time
  • Resolve discrepancies in information
  • Other ad-hoc duties when required
  • Collaborate with all relevant parties and employees to improve processes
  • Report back on activities and issues
