SUMMARY:
A well-known company working in the mining environment is seeking to employ a Millwirght (knowledge of PLC and HMI is a must). This is a permanent position based in Kathu.

POSITION INFO:

Position: Aftermarket Sales & Support Technician

Location: Northern Cape - Kathu

There is an immediate vacancy for an Aftermarket Sales & Support Technician in the Northern Cape.  A dual portfolio, whereby the incumbent will be responsible for providing functions as both a sales representative (for the Aftermarket Sales) as well as a roaming area field service technician

Qualification – Requirements (Skills):

  • Experience within the millwright trade, a minimum of 5 years
  • Aftermarket technical sales experience, a minimum of 3 years
  • Millwright Trade Tested
  • Experience in the maintenance of trackless mining equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • The candidate must be medically fit to work underground
  • Technical assessment may be conducted for all short-listed candidates

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and supervising of day-to-day aftermarket activities in the region
  • Supports the company’s business initiatives and actively promotes after-market business ventures
  • The AM Sales & Support Technician must co-ordinate AM activities and ensure that work is conducted in an efficient and seamless manner
  • Within the scope of duties, establishes and maintains a healthy working relationship with the company’s clients
  • In conjunction with the area site administrator and Head of Aftermarket, facilities the process to ensure that critical spares and components are in stock and will be replenished as and when required
  • Identifies critical spares that are required for the introduction of new equipment to the area, i.e., to align with the delivery of new machine platforms in the Northern Cape
  • Offers technical advice to clients regarding correct maintenance practices and procedures
  • Ability to expediently and accurately troubleshoot
  • Liaises with relevant head office representatives to expedite spares/repair on order
  • Conducts and submits equipment audit reports (a minimum number of audits are to be executed per sales quarter)
  • The employee will co-ordinate and schedule his activities, ensuring that the company’s clients receive exceptional service support

Overtime & Travel:

  • The employee may be required to work overtime (breakdown/after-hour callouts)
  • Travel within the region as well as from the Northern Cape to Johannesburg (on ad hoc basis) – if and when necessary
